Meriana slowly emerged from the back of the cave she'd been in for several days. As a slave mare, she was not allowed out of the home of the stallion who'd found her in the forest. She didn't care though. Her ears flicked back and forth, and she moved out of the cave carefully. The stallion had been gone for awhile, but if he caught her she'd be in trouble for sure. There was also the risk of being caught by another stallion. It wasn't slavery that she minded so much, but this particular stallion and Meriana just didn't mix that well.
Suddenly, a dark shape stopped her cold. Meriana couldn't tell, was it her master or a different stallion?

J A R L Jarl walked towards the mare, a look of mingled amusement and curiousity fixed upon his face. While he knew little about this strange region, he doubted it was normal even here for mares to be hiding in the gloomy depths of caves. He studied the stranger as she stepped cautiously out of the cave, then froze at the sight of him. The young stallion chuckled softly, his dark eyes flashing with a sort of savage delight. "Baby, I refuse to believe that a cave is an ideal place for a princess like you." He hissed the words, making them slow and deliberate. While Jarl could be perfectly charming when he wished, he was also a bully. And this little mare seemed to be quite the perfect victim...

Meriana relaxed, realizing it was not her master of late. She let her eyes travel the stallion's body, admiring his physique. At the same time she began to tense again at his words, unsure of what this meant for her. He sounded flattering, but she was unused to flattery that it made her tense. "Unusual, perhaps," She replied softly, "But it is where I have been for the past few days. A prisoner of sorts. Not entirely unwilling, but..." She stopped, unsure of how to explain herself. She still didn't trust this stallion. Not that it mattered. She was no haughty dark mare, no pure light mare, and she didn't understand the concept of neutral horses. So what was she? A slave. The more she thought about it, the less it bothered her. But she was still anxious to get away from this particular cave. The stallion who lived there was a less than desirable mate, let alone master.

J A R L The mare's words perplexed Jarl. How could she possibly be willingly held captive? His dark eyes became distant as he considered the idea, but he could see no possible way for both of these things to be true. He blinked, shifting his focus back to the mare. "So the princess is a willing prisoner?" He queried, beginning to circle her slowly. He had noticed that the mare had relaxed slightly, and somehow this displeased him. He wanted to feel powerful, to see the whites of her eyes, and to watch her flinch away from him. For some twisted reason that Jarl couldn't put into words, he wanted this mare to fear him.
The stallion stepped closer to the mare, so that he could feel the heat of her body against his own. "Well, princess, maybe you picked the wrong day to escape." Jarl chuckled darkly, though his words were just empty threats. He wouldn't really harm her... Would he?

Meriana knew she sounded strange, and when he queried, she searched for a proper response. "I'm a slave mare," She finally said. Maybe it wasn't wise to admit that, but what else was she going to do? "I wasn't against being here as much as I didn't get along with the stallion who found me in the forest." She hoped that made sense. Meriana glanced at his eyes and suddenly tensed again, afraid of what might happen. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room to make an escape around him, he was blocking the entrance. She backed up by one step, and when she heard his second comment, she started trembling, not too noticeably, but just a tad. She backed up again, and hoped he would move slightly so she could jump past. Not that she had anywhere to go. Meriana was trapped between no escape and a new stallion, with no where to go.

J A R L Jarl nodded slowly at the mare's words, not really paying much attention. "I'm a slave mare." He heard her words as if from a distance, and although they surprised him, he tried not to show it. What sort of animal could allow themselves to be enslaved by another? He continued to observe the mare, watching as she backed away from him. Was she actually afraid of him? Jarl gave a low laugh, taking a confident step closer to the female, who was trembling - she really was afraid. This fear only deepened Jarl's desire to terrify her, and he found himself tormenting her once again.
"What's the matter, princess? Are you scared?" Jarl cackled with laughter, though he moved no closer to the young mare. "Do you really think I'd hurt you, baby?" Whether this was meant to console her or scare her further, even Jarl wasn't sure.

Meriana knew that her intimidation was a major part of this scenario, but she couldn't help it. She noted the confusion on his face and attempted to explain. "It was not willing originally," She said. "It was a slow process, but there's not really any way out." She decided against sounded pitiful and desperate to escape, that would make her the wounded fish and him the shark. When he asked if she was scared, she pondered that for a second. "Maybe I am," She tried to sound in charge, but failed. Instead she continued to back up slowly, worried about what might happen.

"There's always a way out, princess..." Jarl muttered, his eyes never leaving the mare as she admitted to her fear, backing away from him as though cornered by a demon. He studied her somberly for a moment or two, then turned and walked a few steps away from the female. His slight movement left the mare enough room to flee if she wished - and although the young stallion still felt the overbearing desire to terrify the female, he had finally decided that enough was enough. "Come with me, baby," He whispered suddenly, his dark eyes unreadable. "Leave this place." He paused, chuckling under his breath. "I'll protect you from the things that go bump in the night." Jarl turned away, giving the female the choice. Surely he was the lesser of the two evils that the young mare faced?
OOC: Welcome back! :] Excuse the rubbishness (is that even a word?) of this post; I can't breathe properly at the moment DX some kid puffed loads of smoke in my face, and I'm a little asthmatic.. Bad times. >.>

OOC:Thanks! And no problem, I'm too tired to be very literate anyway :]
Meriana pondered that statement. Yes, there was a choice. She could remember several times when she'd almost been able to run away, but was too scared to do so. Her head tilted to the side as she considered this. When he moved over slightly, she knew she had a big choice. To flee to an unknown world of free horses, or to go with him, which would in theory be better than staying here. She took a deep breath. Meriana had no idea what life was like in the free world. She couldn't be a Light horse, she'd never be accepted. She certainly wasn't Dark either. She could always be Neutral, but who's to say they would accept her there either?
Meriana replied quietly, "A free future is nearly as uncertain and terrifying as staying here in this cave." She paused then finished. "I would rather leave knowing what is to come, with you, then chance it on my own." She took a deep breath, and waited for his response.
